Fender – Telecaster – 1971/72 – Blond – Professionally Upgraded
This is the telecaster that Leo should have built the variety of sounds on this thing and the usability of the sounds is truly stunning. I’m not sure when the modifications were done for sure but the owner said it was mid-late seventies and that they were done at a shop in Denmark Street London to a very high standard. This upgrade means that this guitar is a one off guitar, there is not another like it in the world and to really appreciate the modifications you would really need to sit down and play her to truly feel what a difference this set-up is compared to the standard set-up Tele. The chicken head volume and tone knobs are a work of genius as you know exactly where they are without having to guess.
This is without doubt one of the best guitars I have ever played of any brand & I will truly be sad to see this one go. For the purists out there the body has been routed to allow the fitting of the upgrades and yes it would be a very easy job to convert this back to original which was the initial plan until I played it. Once I played it I couldn’t bring myself to change it back to original, This has been played every day since it came into the shop and is a real players guitar.
The serial says it was build in the Fullerton Plant U.S.A. (Fender CBS Era) in 1972 – However the neck says – 3 Oct71B
It has been set-up with Daddario EXL110s for a rich full tone.
The body has the signature J Torres on it and apparently ‘J. Torres’ was a common employee mark for Fender necks from this period… there are players who specifically search them out in belief that his necks are the best ones!
Looking for something a little different with some sweet sounds oozing character then you have come to the right place!
